Hudson baseball team shuts out Normandy

The host Hudson baseball team improved to 2-0 after posting a 4-0 victory over Parma Normandy April 2 at The Ballpark at Hudson.

The Explorers scored one run apiece in the first and third innings and twice in the fifth inning.

Hudson finished with seven hits and no errors'

Normandy finished with one hit and one error.

Right-hander Nanak Saran allowed just one hit in five innings of work to pick up his first win of the season.

Saran finished with four strikeouts.

Jared Hoffman pitched the sixth and Ian Swan took the mound in the seventh and finished the game.

Joey Cahill led the Explorers' offense with two hits, including a double, a stolen base, a run batted in and a run scored. Cahill also was hit by a pitch.

Hudson lost a 3-2 decision in the junior varsity game.

The varsity team was scheduled to play Kent Roosevelt in the sixth annual David Starkey Memorial Baseball Classic April 4 at Kent State University. Results were not available at press time.

The Explorers are set to host Northeast Ohio Conference Valley Division rival Stow-Munroe Falls April 8 before heading to Stow April 9. Both games are scheduled to begin at 4:30 p.m.
