Two Hudson bowlers advance to district competition

The Hudson boys bowling team just missed qualifying for district play.

The Explorers finished fourth with a score of 3,888 during a Division I sectional tournament Feb. 16 at Mahoning Valley Lanes in Youngstown.

Boardman won the 13-team competition with a score of 4,179. Canfield (4,159) and Niles McKinley (3,937) also qualified for district play.

The Hudson girls finished 10th with a score of 2,826. Austintown Fitch won the competition with a score of 4,051. The other two qualifying teams were Kent Roosevelt (3,707) and Stow-Munroe Falls (3,641).

Logan Booth and Angela Piazza qualified for the district competition, which is set to take place Feb. 23 at Riviera Lanes in Fairlawn. Bowling is scheduled to begin at noon.

Booth placed fourth out of 84 bowlers with scores of 200, 223 and 211. Piazza finished 11th out of 69 bowlers (144, 189 and 213).
