Cuyahoga Falls defeats Hudson boys hoops team

The Hudson boys basketball team fell to 8-10 overall and 2-7 in the Northeast Ohio Conference River Division after losing a 62-54 decision to Cuyahoga Falls Feb. 14 on the road.

The Explorers cut the Black Tigers' deficit to a deuce (56-54) late in the game. But Josh Ricker made it a two-possession game for Falls when he canned both ends of a one-and-one situation with 54.1 seconds left.

The Black Tigers made 6 of 8 free throws in the final 54.1 seconds to seal the deal.

Jay Slone led Falls with 18 points and Ricker added 14 points for the Black Tigers (13-6, 8-1). Angelo Cugini finished with 12 points and eight rebounds for Falls.

Zack Meder led the Explorers with 16 points and Mitch Guadagni had 13 points.

Ian Laver and Derek Schwarz each added 10 points for Hudson, which lost a 25-21 decision in the junior varsity contest.
