Hudson ice hockey team eliminated in Baron Cup semifinals

The Hudson ice hockey team lost a 4-3 decision to Shaker Heights in overtime in Baron Cup I semifinals Feb. 8 in Brooklyn.

Bo Lori had two goals and Brent Zubal had one for the Explorers. Matt Murphy, Zach Thibault and Brendan Nenni each had an assist for Hudson.

Explorers goaltender Austin Ganley finished with 28 saves.

Hudson (15-14-3) advanced to the semifinals with a 7-1 victory over Chagrin Falls Kenston.

Lori led the Explorers with three goals and three assists and Max Cole had two goals and two assists.

Thibault added one goal and one assist for Hudson and Zubal scored the other goal for the Explorers.

Ganley made 30 saves in the nets. He stopped a flurry of shots during a penalty situation when the Bombers had a five-on-three advantage.

Lori and Thibault recently were named to the All-Red Division first team.

Hudson got the sixth seed at the Kent Division I district tournament.

The top five seeds were Hunting Valley University, Walsh Jesuit, Mentor Lake Catholic, Gates Mills Gilmour Academy and Shaker Heights.

The Explorers are set to play Aurora Feb. 12 at Kent State University Ice Arena. Game time is scheduled for 6 p.m.

If Hudson wins that game, it is set to play Shaker Heights Feb. 15 at 3 p.m.
