Hudson ice hockey team finishes second at MLK Tournament

The Hudson ice hockey team was the runner-up at the MLK Tournament, which concluded Jan. 20 at Iceland USA in Strongsville.

The Explorers lost a 2-1 decision to Powell Olentangy Liberty in the championship game. Bo Lori scored the lone goal for Hudson (11-11-3), which outshot the Patriots 30-25.

Explorers goaltender Austin Ganley made 23 saves in the nets.

Hudson reached the championship game with a 3-1 victory over Columbus St. Francis DeSales Jan. 19.

Lori, Matt Murphy and Brent Zubal each scored for the Explorers. Lori also had two assists and Zach Thibault had two assists.

Zubal and Max Cole each one assist for Hudson, which outshot DeSales 38-21. Ganley finished with 20 saves.

The Explorers also posted a 5-0 win over the Kalamazoo Blades (Mich.) Jan. 19. Lori had three goals and an assist and Pat Jones and Chris Warfield each scored one goal. Mikey Gaffney, Brendan Nenni and Thibault each had one assist.

Ganley finished with 11 saves as Hudson outshot Kalamazoo 33-11.

The Explorers lost a 2-1 decision to Olentangy Liberty Jan. 18.

Lori scored the lone goal and Zubal had the assist. Ganley finished with 15 saves. Hudson outshot the Patriots 30-17.

The Explorers are set to host Strongsville on Senior Night Jan. 24 at Kent State University Ice Arena. Game time is scheduled for 8 p.m.

Hudson is set to visit Strongsville Jan. 25 at 6:30 p.m.
