Both the Hudson boys and girls bowling teams didn't have glittering records in 2013.
Their records look pretty sparkling thus far in 2014.
Both Hudson teams got off to a great start in the new year by earning victories over Northeast Ohio Conference rival Garfield Heights Jan. 9 at the Sto-Kent Family Entertainment Center in Stow.
It was their first matches of the year and their first matches in more than three weeks.
The boys improved to 2-8 overall and 2-8 in the NOC with a 2,301-1,988 win and the girls (4-5, 4-5) earned a 1,689-1,404 victory.
Hunter McCollough led the boys team with a high two-game series of 388 (191 and 197). Logan Booth had the high game (206) and also rolled a 168.
Also faring well for the boys team were Nich Brumbaugh (195 and 139), Taylor Turrin (184), Philip Rust (178) and Bobby Shanks (178).
The Lady Explorers were led by Angela Piazza (195-175).
Also faring well for the girls team were Ashley Reed (149 and 134), Autumn Stanonik (136 and 120) and Geneva Liljestrand (131 and 110).
The junior varsity boys team earned a 1,708-1,605 win.
Joseph Horsch led Hudson with scores of 155 and 148, respectively.
Both teams were scheduled to visit NOC foe Cuyahoga Falls Jan. 10 at Legend Lanes. Results were not available at press time.
They are set to visit NOC rival Stow-Munroe Falls Jan. 16 at the Sto-Kent Family Entertainment Center. Bowling is scheduled to begin at 4:15 p.m.
