It had been seven years since it last happened.
Unfortunately for the Hudson girls basketball team, it won't be eight.
The Lady Explorers fell to 5-6 overall and 1-2 in the Northeast Ohio Conference Valley Division after losing a 55-39 decision to Stow-Munroe Falls Jan. 4 at Ray "Buck" Hyser Gymnasium.
It was the Lady Bulldogs' first win over Hudson since 2007. The Lady Explorers had won seven in a row against Stow. The Lady Bulldogs improved to 10-0 overall and 2-0 in the division.
Stow led most of the way until Hudson's Jackie Ulmer converted a layup off an assist from Ally Prosser to tie the game at 27 with a little less than five minutes left in the third quarter.
Danielle Tiller gave the Lady Bulldogs the lead for good when she tracked down a loose ball and scored on a short jumper and Chrissy Vaughn followed with back-to-back three-pointers to complete an 8-0 run.
Stow never lost its lead again.
Madison Baer led the way with 12 points and Vaughn finished with 11 points. Sam Shaver and Jessica Stout added 10 and eight points, respectively, for the Lady Bulldogs.
Krissy Mummey led the Lady Explorers with 12 points and Margo Camp and Jackie Ulmer contributed 11 and nine points, respectively, for Hudson.
Stow had a 46-24 edge on the glass. Baer led the Lady Bulldogs with 12 rebounds and Meghan Preston finished with 10 rebounds for Stow.
The Lady Bulldogs also earned a 28-23 win in the junior varsity game.
