Walsh Jesuit rolls past Hudson ice hockey team

The Hudson ice hockey team fell to 7-5-2 after losing a convincing 6-1 decision to Walsh Jesuit in the Warrior Shootout Dec. 27 at Kent State University Ice Arena.

Walsh (6-8-1) scored goals 61 seconds apart in the first period to take a 2-0 lead.

Mitch Hines got the Warriors on the board with 6 minutes, 4 seconds remaining in the first period and then Jack Huscroft made it 2-0 with 5:03 left.

The Explorers cut their deficit to 2-1 when Anthony Giaimo found the net a little more than two minutes into the second period. Mikey Gaffney and Brent Zubal were credited with the assists on Giaimo's goal.

Hudson never got closer.

Walsh got goals Jake Atkinson, Huscroft, Hines and Chris Gaul to take command.

Todd Lambert had three assists for Walsh and Huscroft, Colin Lippincott, Hudson resident Jimmy Fladung, Atkinson, Matt Mueller and Kevin Van Bokkelen each had one assist for the Warriors.

Walsh goaltender Jaime Studer made 20 saves and Explorers' goalies Austin Ganley and Stroud Corr made 23 and three stops, respectively.
