Hudson boys basketball squad rolls past Streetsboro


The Hudson boys basketball team advanced to the Hudson Holiday Classic championship game.

The Explorers improved to 5-1 on the season with a convincing 50-34 victory over Streetsboro Dec. 27 at Ray "Buck" Hyser Gymnasium.

With the win, Hudson earned a date with Chagrin Falls Kenston in the championship game. That contest is scheduled to take place Dec. 28 at 7:30 p.m. Kenston earned a 66-49 win in the other semifinal contest.

The Explorers outscored the Rockets 31-13 in the middle two quarters to take control.

Kevin Zullo shared game-high honors with 15 points to lead Hudson. Zullo scored all of his points on five three-pointers.

Chris Koscho added 10 points for the Explorers and Mitch Guadagni and Derek Schwarz each scored eight points for Hudson. Schwarz also had a game-high 13 rebounds.

It was Streetsboro's first loss of the season. Reggie Dublin led the Rockets (6-1) with 15 points.

Streetsboro earned a 51-38 win in the junior varsity game.
