The Western Reserve Academy ice hockey team's five-game winning streak came to an end after losing a 6-5 decision to Grafton Midview Dec. 8 at North Park Ice Rink in Elyria.
The Pioneers (5-3) scored three goals in the first period and had a 4-1 lead with four minutes left in the second period. Midview rallied with two goals to cut Reserve's lead to 4-3 after two periods of play and WRA gave up its first two power-play goals of the season in the third period.
Midview scored on a five-on-three power play and a five-on-four power play in a span of about one minute. The Pioneers committed five minor penalties in the third period.
Robbie Markwell led Reserve with three goals and Austin Rand and Daniel Hill each had one. WRA goaltender Christian Ciraco made 50 saves, including several from point-blank range.
