Akron Baseball HOF seeks nominations
The board of directors for the Greater Akron Baseball Hall of Fame is accepting nominations for its July induction ceremony.
The board is requesting that nominees should be persons who have made meaningful contributions to local baseball programs.
Those nominated should be players, coaches, managers, sponsors, umpires and/or administrators.
The Greater Akron area is defined as all of Summit, Portage, Wayne, Medina and Stark counties.
The deadline for submitting nominations to the Greater Akron Baseball Hall of Fame is Dec. 15.

Boys soccer squad wins season finale
The host Western Reserve Academy boys soccer team concluded the season with a 6-2 victory over Kiski (Pa.) Oct. 26.
The Pioneers, who finished 11-6-1, had a 4-0 lead at halftime. Kiski dropped to 7-5.
Ryan Hassell led Reserve with three goals and one assist and Beni Lerner added two goals and one assist.
Alex Campana also had one goal and one assist and Ryan Stifler and Samir Gangoli each had an assist for WRA. The Pioneers had a 12-4 advantage in shots on goal. Kiski had a 3-0 edge on corner kicks. Reserve goalkeeper Joe Blanda made two saves in the nets.
Football team falls
The host Western Reserve Academy football team dropped its fifth consecutive game after losing a commanding 36-7 decision to Kiski (Pa.) Oct. 26.
The Pioneers (2-6) are scheduled to conclude their season against Trinity Nov. 2 in Garfield Heights. Kickoff is set for 7 p.m.
Run in Turkey Trot
Aurora's parks and recreation department is planning its seventh annual Turkey Trot, a 4-mile run/walk, Nov. 28 at Aurora Farms Premium Outlets. The Mashed Potato MIle also will be offered to all ages.
