The top-seeded Hudson volleyball team advanced to a Division I district title match after earning a 25-16, 25-18, 16-25, 25-16 victory over 12th-seeded Walsh Jesuit Oct. 22 at Stow-Munroe Falls.
With the win, the Lady Explorers (18-6) earned a date with second-seeded Kent Roosevelt, a 25-17, 17-25, 25-22, 25-17 winner over Twinsburg, Oct. 24 at 6 p.m. The Lady Warriors finished the season with an 11-13 record.
Celia Cristofoli led Hudson with 16 kills and Jordan Mackay had 12 kills and seven blocks. Krissy Mummey added 12 kills and three blocks and Gina Holland finished with 17 service points, including two aces.
Also contributing for the Lady Explorers were Amanda Przybocki (43 assists) and Sarah Young (15 digs).
Kyra Conourides, who plans to continue her career at Virginia Tech, led Walsh with 25 assists, 12 kills and two blocks.
Kit McCarty, a Hudson resident, added seven kills for the Lady Warriors.
Also contributing for Walsh were Sarah Boodjeh (six kills and two blocks) and Carolyn Bauer (22 digs).
Hudson jumped out to a 9-1 lead in the fourth set, but the Lady Warriors rallied to cut the Lady Explorers' advantage to 20-16.
Hudson closed it out with five straight points. Mackay ended the match with a kill on match point.
