The top-seeded Hudson volleyball team earned a date in a Division I district semifinal contest after posting a 25-18, 25-20, 25-23 victory over Nordonia Oct. 19 at Stow-Munroe Falls High School.
The Lady Explorers improved to 17-6 with the win and the Lady Knights finished 16-8.
Hudson trailed by as many as seven (9-2) in the third set and were down 16-11 before rallying. Tied at 23, Lady Explorers' middle hitter Krissy Mummey put the match away with a kill to make it 24-23 and a block on match point.
Mummey finished with 14 service points, including two aces, and eight blocks.
Jordan Mackay had 15 kills and Sarah Young added 28 digs for Hudson.
Also contributing for the Lady Explorers were Amanda Przybocki (35 assists and 14 points, including two aces) and Gina Holland 13 digs.
Sierra Pla led Nordonia with nine blocks and six kills and Rachel Slonsky finished with nine kills and eight digs.
Bailey Watroba contributed 29 assists and Miranda Bodziony added nine digs for the Lady Knights.
Hudson is scheduled to play 12th-seeded Walsh Jesuit, a 15-25, 25-19, 25-22, 25-23 winner over Stow-Munroe Falls, in a Division I district semifinal contest Oct. 22 at 7 p.m.
