The host Hudson football team improved to 7-0 overall and 2-0 in the Northeast Ohio Conference Valley Division with a commanding 42-14 victory over Solon Oct. 11.
With the loss, the Comets fell to 4-3 overall and 1-1 in the division.
Explorers quarterback Mitch Guadagni completed 10 of 17 passes for 243 yards and four touchdowns and also ran for 106 yards and a score on 14 carries.
He completed 14- and 39- and 68-yard TD passes to Colton Whited, who finished with five catches for 144 yards. He also completed a 78-yard scoring pass to Jared Ruffing and had a 44-yard TD run.
Ben Hart added a 1-yard TD run for Hudson. Pierce Royster converted all six of his point after tries.
The Explorers scored first with 7 minutes, 35 seconds left in the first quarter, but Solon tied the game 14 seconds later when Kollyn Crenshaw returned a kickoff 99 yards. David Sebuke added the first of his two extra points.
Hudson responded with 35 unanswered points. The Comets scored their final points when Matt Laubscher completed a 12-yard TD pass to Brandon Boyd.
The Explorers outgained Solon 453-238.
