Girls distance team
The Western Reserve Academy girls cross country team placed 13th out of 15 teams in the Blue Division of the Gilmour Academy Paul Primeau Invitational Sept. 27 in Gates Mills.
Cuyahoga Valley Christian Academy won the competition with 46 points to hold off Independence (47).
Shaker Heights Hathaway Brown finished a distant third with 47 points.
Jen Wisniewski of Independence finished first out of 113 runners with a time of 19 minutes, 50.1 seconds.
CVCA's Sammy Bockoven, a Hudson resident, placed second (19:50.5).
Elizabeth Downing led the Lady Pioneers with a 36th-place clocking of 22:34.6.
Rounding out the top five for Reserve were Katherine Zandee (51st, 23:03.2), Nina Tekelenburg (61st, 23:43.8), Sophie Arzberger (78th, 24:38.9) and Molly Hulver (84th, 24:45.5).
WRA is scheduled to host Laurel (Shaker Heights) Oct. 2 at 5 p.m. before heading to the Medina Cross Country Invitational Oct. 5 at 12:15 p.m.
