It took a little longer than normal, but the Hudson football team is 4-0.
The Explorers made a stellar Northeast Ohio Conference Valley Division debut with a 22-13 victory over Brunswick Sept. 21 on the road.
The game resumed Sept. 21 in the second quarter after lightning stopped the game Sept. 20. Hudson had a 12-0 lead at the time.
Pierce Royster got the Explorers on track with field goals of 29 and 24 yards, respectively. Hudson quarterback Mitch Guadagni made it 12-0 when he scored on a 9-yard run. The extra point was no good.
The Explorers increased their lead to 19-0 when Guadagni completed a 25-yard touchdown pass to Reid Robinson with 1 minute, 58 seconds remaining in the first half. Royster added the extra point.
The Blue Devils (2-1, 0-1) finally got on the board when Richie Norman scored on a 30-yard run. Kyle Hotz added the extra point to make it 19-7 with 7:06 in the third quarter.
But Hudson scored less than two minutes later when Royster booted a 46-yard field goal.
Brunswick made it 22-13 with 6:09 left in the game when Michael Bekeny scored on a 5-yard run.
Guadagni ran for 98 yards on 14 carries and completed 19 of 31 passes for 238 yards.
Norman ran for 128 yards on 28 carries and Blue Devils' quarterback Steven Ficyk completed 13 of 25 passes for 178 yards and two interceptions.
