If they didn't take a chance, they could have played all night.
Pardon the Explorers if they weren't in the mood to wait any longer.
The Hudson football team improved to 3-0 with a dramatic 15-14 double-overtime victory over Brecksville-Broadview Heights Sept. 13 at Hudson Memorial Stadium.
Trailing 14-7 in the second overtime, Explorers' quarterback Mitch Guadagni cut the Bees' margin to 14-13 when he scored on a 12-yard run.
And that's when Hudson made a bold move.
Instead of going for the tie, the Explorers decided to go for the two-point conversion and the win.
Jared Ruffing gave Hudson the win in dramatic fashion when he scampered into the end zone for two points.
Brecksville (2-1) got on the board with 3 minutes, 14 seconds left in the first half when Tim Tupa scored on a one-yard run. Tupa added the first of his two extra points to give the Bees a 7-0 lead.
The Explorers tied the game when Guadagni completed a five-yard pass to John Zuccaro with 8:00 left in the third quarter. Pierce Royster added the first of his two point after tries.
Prior to Hudson's heroics in the second overtime, the Bees took a 14-7 lead when Tupa completed a five-yard TD pass to Jay Rose.
Guadagni ran for 74 yards on 16 carries and Dean Miller added 61 yards in 10 attempts for the Explorers.
Tupa ran for 95 yards in 17 attempts and completed 16 of 23 passes for 132 yards. Tyler Tupa led Brecksville's receiving corps with six catches for 77 yards.
The Bees had a 19-4 edge in first downs and a 297-210 advantage in total yards.
