The host Hudson field hockey team ended its two-game losing streak with a 2-0 victory over Shaker Heights Hathaway Brown Sept. 3 at Scott Malson Field.
With the win, the Lady Explorers improved to 2-2 on the season. The Blazers had been Hudson's nemesis in recent years. The last time the Lady Explorers beat Hathaway Brown was 2009 when they earned a 3-2 win at Hudson's Laflin Field.
In the two teams' latest showdown, Maria Russell scored both goals and Lady Explorers' goalkeeper Jackie Kisthardt got the shutout in the nets despite the Blazers' relentless pursuit in the closing moments.
Hudson was scheduled to host Kent Roosevelt Sept. 5 at Hudson Memorial Stadium. Results were not available at press time.
The Lady Explorers are set to play Laurel Sept. 12 in Shaker Heights. Game time is scheduled for 4:30 p.m.
