Hudson girls soccer team suffers first loss

The Hudson girls soccer team suffered its first loss of the season Sept. 4.

The Lady Explorers lost a 2-1 decision to Northeast Ohio Conference rival Twinsburg at Twinsburg Tiger Stadium.

It was a matchup between two ranked teams, according to the Ohio Scholastic Soccer Coaches Association.

The Lady Tigers (6-0) were ranked No. 7 in a recent Division I state poll and the Lady Explorers were ranked 12th.

Nicki Krejci got Twinsburg on the board when she made a couple of dazzling moves and then beat Hudson goalkeeper Sarah L'Hommedieu with a low liner to the right-hand corner of the net. That goal gave the Lady Tigers a 1-0 lead with 21 minutes, 44 seconds left in the first half.

Alex Wright tied the game with 19:12 left in the game when she beat Twinsburg keeper Lexi Cooke after receiving a pass out wide from Erin Torrence.

But the Lady Tigers had an answer.

After the Lady Explorers had a couple of chances to take the lead, Megan King got the ball inside Hudson's penalty box and scored into a wide-open net with 8:01 remaining.
