The Hudson boys cross country team placed fourth with 105 points at the 16-team Mentor Cardinal Classic Aug. 31.
Louisville won the competition with 72 points and Mentor (80) and Chardon (80) finished second and third, respectively. Mentor edged Chardon on a tiebreaker.
Chardon's Nick Elswick placed first out of 128 runners with a time of 15 minutes, 29.76 seconds.
Kyle Mau led the Explorers with a second-place clocking of 15:50.12. Not far behind Mau was teammate Gavin Gaynor in fourth (16:26.58).
Also placing in the top 20 for Hudson was Matthew Hallgarth, who finished 18th (17:07.09).
Rounding out the top seven for the Explorers were Connor Sinko (41st, 17:52.25), Blake Roberts (42nd, 17:53.27), Matthew Stevenot (45th, 17:57.69) and Andrew Bitter (58th, 18:15.04).
