The Hudson baseball team earned a 6-5 victory in eight innings over Northeast Ohio Conference Valley Division victory over Twinsburg April 9 at Dodge Middle School.
With the win, the Explorers improved to 5-0 overall and 1-0 in the Valley Division.
Kevin Zullo smacked a run-scoring single in the top of the eighth inning to give Hudson a 6-5 lead.
Zullo then set Tigers (4-1, 1-1) down in order in the bottom of the eighth to get the win. Zullo, who also had a run-scoring single in the fourth, improved to 2-0 on the season.
The Explorers had a 3-1 lead until Twinsburg's Mitch Eglar smacked a two-run homer in the bottom of the fifth.
The Tigers added two more runs in the inning to take a 5-3 advantage.
Mitch Schoenman cut Twinsburg's lead to 5-4 in the sixth inning and Ross McLelland tied the game with a run-scoring single in the seventh.
BOYS LACROSSE SQUAD ROUTS HOOVER
The host Hudson boys lacrosse team improved to 6-0 with a commanding 18-4 victory over North Canton Hoover at Malson Field.
TENNIS TEAM SHUTS OUT CVCA
The Hudson boys tennis team improved to 2-0 with a 5-0 victory over Cuyahoga Valley Christian Academy April 9 in Cuyahoga Falls.
Steven Boslet (6-0, 6-2), Dominic Polifrone (6-2, 6-0) and Michael Wolowiecki (6-1, 6-0) cruised in singles play and the Explorers' doubles teams of Brian Kemper and Ben Tiemann (6-1, 6-0) and Aryah Basu and Jack Graham (6-1, 6-0) also triumphed.
GIRLS RUGBY CLUB CRUSHES AMHERST
The Hudson Girls Rugby Club earned a lopsided 50-5 victory over Amherst April 9 at Hudson Memorial Stadium.
HUDSON RESIDENT LEADS WALSH JESUIT
The host Walsh Jesuit baseball team improved to 5-1 overall and 2-0 in the North Coast League with a commanding 11-1 victory over Cleveland Benedictine April 9.
The game was called after 4-1/2 innings due to the 10-run mercy rule.
Hudson resident Ryan Feltner (1-1) allowed one hit in four innings of work to pick up the win. He finished with three strikeouts.
WESTERN RESERVE ACADEMY GIRLS LACROSSE SQUAD WINS
The host Western Reserve Academy girls lacrosse team improved to 2-0 after posting an 8-7 victory over Rocky River April 9.
Virginia Carter led the Lady Pioneers with four goals.
