The Hudson girls swimming and diving team recently had its awards banquet.
The Lady Explorers finished sixth at the Division I state meet. It was their highest finish ever.
Hudson also won the Cleveland district and Akron sectional titles and posted a 9-0 record in dual meets. The Lady Explorers won the Northeast Ohio Conference Valley Division title.
Hudson head coach Matt Davis was named the Northeast District Division I Coach of the Year for the third year in a row. The following athletes earned All-American honors:
• Connie Gan, Stephanie Boyd, Laura Murphy and Paige Kelly, 400-yard freestyle relay
• Kelsey Crawford, Angie Doerrer, Gan, Natalie Hill and Rachel Skully, academic
• Kelly, 200 freestyle (consideration) and 500 freestyle (consideration)
• Murphy, 200 individual medley (consideration) and 100 breaststroke (consideration)
• Boyd, Murphy, Gan and Jillian Saccogna, 200 medley relay (consideration)
State qualifiers included Kelly in the 200 freestyle and 500 freestyle; Gan in the 100 butterfly and 100 freestyle; Murphy in the 200 IM and 100 breaststroke; Sarah Wolanske in the 500 freestyle; and relay swimmers Boyd, Jillian Saccogna, Emily Arther and Caitlin Weigel.
The following athletes earned All-Ohio honors:
• 200 medley relay: Boyd, Murphy, Gan, Jillian Saccogna and Weigel, ninth at the state meet
• 200 freestyle relay: Saccogna, Arther, Weigel, Boyd and Kelly, 10th
• 400 freestyle relay: Gan, Boyd, Weigel, Murphy and Kelly, eighth
• Kelly, 500 freestyle, third; and 200 freestyle, eighth
• Murphy, 100 breaststroke, seventh; and 200 IM, eighth
• Gan, 100 butterfly, 14th; and 100 freestyle, 16th
• Wolanske, 500 freestyle, 13th
Davis was named the Northeast Ohio Conference Valley Division Coach of the Year. Kelly was named the Valley Division Swimmer of the Year.
