If there were first-day jitters for Hudson wrestlers Danny Tiley and Michael Coleman Feb. 28 at the Division I state tournament, they sure didn't show.
Tiley and Coleman each won their first matches at states, earning spots in the quarterfinals March 1.
Wrestling at 160 pounds, Coleman opened his tournament with a 7-2 win over Pickerington Central's A.J. Bondurant.
Coleman was set to face Cincinnati Coleran's Detuan Smith in the quarterfinals.
Meanwhile, wrestling at 182 pounds, Tiley took on Columbus West's Paco Quinonez in the first round. Tiley got two third-period takedowns to score a 7-2 win.
Tiley was set to take on Cincinnati Archbishop Moeller's Quinton Rosser in the quarterfinals.
Meanwhile, the Hudson girls basketball team advanced to a Division I district title contest.
The Lady Explorers improved to 20-5 on the season with a 70-64 victory over Walsh Jesuit Feb. 28 at Ellet High School in Akron.
With the win, Hudson earned a date with top-seeded Twinsburg in a district title game March 2 at 1 p.m.
Hannah Boesinger led the Lady Explorers with a game-high 27 points and Jackie Ulmer had 16 points. Also faring well for Hudson were Krissy Mummey (12 points) and Kelly Gough (nine points).
Sophia Simone led the Warriors (17-8) with 20 points and Jessa Gilberto added 17 points for Walsh.
