Hudson boys basketball team routs Solon to win River Division title

The 12-year drought is over.

The host Hudson boys basketball team won its first division title since 2001 after posting a commanding 69-37 victory over Solon Feb. 22 at Ray "Buck" Hyser Gymnasium.

With the win, the Explorers improved to 8-2 in the Northeast Ohio Conference River Division to win the title outright. Twinsburg and Brush each had three losses coming into Feb. 22.

Hudson also ended the regular season with an 11-game winning streak to finish 18-4.

Zack Brandy led the Explorers with 19 points. He also scored his 1,000th point in the second quarter and was awarded the game ball.

Steve Boslet added 13 points for Hudson, which scored a 38-34 win over the Comets in the junior varsity contest. The Explorers' JV squad finished 20-1 overall and 10-0 in the River Division.
