Hudson boys hoops team routs Twinsburg to take control of River Division

Published:

The Hudson boys basketball team is one win away from claiming an outright Northeast Ohio Conference River Division title.

The Explorers cruised to a 71-48 victory over Twinsburg Feb. 15 on the road.

With the win, Hudson took the lead in the River Division standings. The Explorers, who have won nine in a row, improved to 16-4 overall and 7-2 in the River Division. The Tigers dropped to 6-3 in the division and Brush fell to 5-3 after losing a 66-57 decision to Stow-Munroe Falls Feb. 15 on the road.

The Explorers took control early and never looked back. Zack Brandy led Hudson with 24 points. He knocked down two three-pointers. His last one gave him 104 for his career, which is the most in school history. Brandy was presented the game ball by Explorers head coach Jeff Brink after the game.

Jalen Washington led Twinsburg with a game-high 25 points.

Hudson is scheduled to host Solon in its regular-season finale Feb. 22 at 7:30 p.m. If the Explorers beat the Comets, they will win the River Division title.
