Hudson boys basketball team receives third seed at Copley

The Hudson boys basketball team earned the third seed at the Copley Division I sectional-district tournament Feb. 10.

Nordonia received the top seed and Twinsburg and Brunswick got the second and fourth seeds, respectively.

The Explorers earned a first-round bye. They are scheduled to play the Medina-Medina Highland winner in a sectional title contest March 2 at 6 p.m.

BOWLERS COMPETE AT SECTIONAL

The Hudson boys bowling team finished 10th with a score of 3,492 at a 12-team sectional meet Feb. 10 at Sky Lanes in Garrettsville.

Mike Rybak led the Explorers with scores of 182, 160 and 204, respectively.

Also competing for Hudson were Donny Campbell (168-171-188), Logan Booth (156-157-160), Taylor Turrin (151-182), Phil Rust (115-196), Bobby Shanks (140) and Hunter McCullough (114).

The Hudson girls placed 11th out of 12 teams with a score of 2,648 Feb. 9 at Sky Lanes.

Angela Piazza led the Lady Explorers with scores of 171, 166 and 113, respectively. Autumn Stanonik had the high game for Hudson with a 174. She also rolled games of 140 and 119.

Also bowling for the Lady Explorers were Elaina Arsham (143-148-123), Geneva Liljestrand (125-132-118), Ashley Gardea (104-117) and Celine Bedrosian (72).
