The Hudson girls basketball team's 12-game winning streak is over.
The host Lady Explorers fell to 17-3 overall and 6-2 in the Northeast Ohio Valley Division after losing a 66-55 decision to Solon Feb. 6 at Ray "Buck" Hyser Gymnasium.
The Comets (16-4, 6-3) outscored Hudson 19-6 in the final quarter.
Solon's Martha Thompson led all scorers with 23 points and teammate Kristen Confroy had 17 points.
Jordan Bekelja and Alexis Gray each added 10 points for the Comets.
Hannah Boesinger had a team-leading 18 points for the Lady Explorers. Kelly Gough added 12 points for Hudson.
The Lady Explorers junior varsity team improved to 16-4 with a 46-40 win.
GEDEON, MOEGLIN SIGN LETTERS OF INTENT
According to twitter.com/umichfootball, Hudson senior linebacker Ben Gedeon signed his national letter of intent to continue his academic and football careers at the University of Michigan Feb. 6.
Meanwhile, Hudson senior cross country and track and field standout Vince Moeglin signed a letter of intent to continue his academic, cross country and track and field careers at Miami University in Oxford.
THREE COACHES HIRED AT HUDSON
According to Hudson athletic director Ray Ebersole, the Hudson Board of Education approved the hirings of three coaches this week.
Joya Mitchell was approved to become the head girls lacrosse coach. Mitchell spent 11 years as the Lady Explorers' head coach before resigning after the 2010 season for family reasons.
Former Hudson standout center fielder Beth Cinadr, who led the Lady Explorers to the Division I state title, was approved to become the team's head softball coach.
Mike Schmidt, an assistant coach with the Hudson swimming and diving teams, was approved to become the head girls track and field coach.
