WRA aquatic teams fall to Gilmour

The Western Reserve Academy swimming and diving teams fell to Gilmour Academy Jan. 25 in Gates Mills.

The boys lost a 93-76 decision and the girls dropped a 110-59 decision. The following Reserve swimmers and divers finished in the top three and the following WRA relay teams won:

Boys

• 200-yard freestyle: Eric Lugg, second, 2 minutes, 5.04 seconds

• 200 individual medley: Kevin Ly, third, 2:31.1

• 50 freestyle: John Ainikkal, first, 24.72; Shyam Patnaik, second, 25.59; and Zein Alali, third, 25.82

• 100 butterfly: Jonathan Depew, second, 56.42; and William He, third, 1:11.13

• 100 freestyle: Ainikkal, second, 53.77; and Patnaik, third, 57.73

• 100 backstroke: Max Forsythe, first, 1:06.18; and Ly, second, 1:07.81

• 100 breaststroke: Depew, third, 1:05.54

Girls

• 200 freestyle: Kathryn Babbin, first, 1:57.3

• 200 IM: Elisabeth Andersson, second, 2:28.43

• 50 freestyle: Sibel Sarac, second, 27.33

• 100 butterfly: Lucrezia Senesi, second, 1:20.71; and Molly Clark, third, 1:32.75

• 500 freestyle: Babbin, first. 5:10.44

• 100 breaststroke: Sarac, first, 1:19.26

Both teams are scheduled to conclude the season at the Easter Championships Feb. 22 and 23 at LaSalle University in Philadelphia.

Basketball squad rolls

The Hudson junior varsity boys basketball team improved to 14-1 on the season after posting a lopsided 66-28 victory over Orange Feb. 2 in Pepper Pike.

Matt Rightnour had 11 points to lead the Lady Pioneers. Trevor Colazzo added 10 points and Logan Thomas, Colton Whited and Kyle Ator each had eight points for Hudson. A total of 12 Explorers' players scored.
