Scores: Hudson gymnasts place second at Northeast Ohio Conference Meet

The Hudson gymnastics team finished second with 139.275 points at the six-team Northeast Ohio Conference Valley Division Meet Feb. 2 at Medina High School.

Strongsville edged out the Lady Explorers with 139.65 points. North Royalton (136.05) placed third.

Hudson's Mackenzie Miller earned all-conference honors after placing second in the all-around scoring (35.8) and second on the bars (9.1). Teammate Logan Custer also received all-conference honors after placing first on the floor exercise (9.3325) and second on the balance beam (9). Custer placed third in the all-around scoring (35.725).

Miller added a fifth on vault (8.8) and finished sixth on the floor (9.15) and the beam (8.75). Custer also placed fourth on bars (9) and eighth on vault (8.4). Teghan Piper of the Lady Explorers finished fourth on the floor (9.25) and sixth on bars (8.8).

Also contributing to the team score for Hudson were Jordan Miller, who competed on the floor (9.1), vault (8.3), bars (8) and beam (8); Riley Skinner on beam (8.35) and Megan Urbanic on vault (7.95).

WRESTLERS PLACE FIFTH AT NOC

The Hudson wrestling team placed fifth at the Northeast Ohio Conference Tournament Feb. 2 in Garfield Heights.

Michael Coleman (160 pounds) and Danny Tiley (182) won individual titles for the Explorers and Chris Motter (126) finished second.

Placing third for Hudson were Zach Vehar (195) and heavyweight Peter Mougey. Brandon White (138) finished fifth for the Explorers.

GIRLS HOOPS TEAM ROUTS SHAKER HEIGHTS

The Hudson girls basketball team won its 12th consecutive game.

The Lady Explorers posted a lopsided 74-35 victory over Shaker Heights Feb. 2 on the road.

With the win, Hudson improved to 17-2 overall and 6-1 in the Northeast Ohio Conference Valley Division.

Hannah Boesinger led the Lady Explorers with 15 points and teammate Jackie Ulmer added 12 points.

BOYS BASKETBALL SQUAD BEATS ORANGE

The Hudson boys basketball team improved to 12-4 on the season after posting a 56-46 win over Orange Feb. 2 in Pepper Pike.

It was the Explorers' fifth straight victory.

Zack Brandy had 16 points to lead Hudson and teammate Kevin Zullo added 13 points.

The Explorers' junior varsity team improved to 14-1 on the season with a commanding 66-28 win.

HOCKEY CLUB FALLS TO HOLY NAME

The host Hudson ice hockey team fell to 14-12-2 on the season and 5-3-1 in the Red North East Division after losing a 2-0 decision to Parma Heights Holy Name Feb. 2.

BOWLERS PLACE NINTH AT CONFERENCE MEET

The Hudson boys bowling team finished ninth with a score of 3,277 at the 10-team Northeast Ohio Conference Tournament Feb. 2 at Freeway Lanes of Mentor.

Brunswick won the competition with a score of 3,837 and Mayfield (3,672) and Stow-Munroe Falls (3,623) finished second and third, respectively.

Donny Campbell finished ninth overall to lead the Explorers with scores of 190, 200 and 199.

Also bowling for Hudson were Mike Rybak (174-153-135), Phil Rust (162-161-135), Bobby Shanks (172-148-117), Hunter McCollough (154-181) and Logan Booth (138).

The Lady Explorers tied Brush for eighth (2,148). Mentor (3,281) won the nine-team competition and Twinsburg (3,151) and Stow (2,959) finished second and third, respectively.

Angela Piazza led Hudson with scores of 134, 158 and 134. Also bowling for the Lady Explorers were Autumn Stanonik (160-90-120), Geneva Liljestrand (107-97-95), Elaina Arsham (86-108) and Ashley Gardea (103-89).
