Swimmers fare well

Cuyahoga Falls Riverfront YMCA Tigershark swimmers won the Hang Ten Invitational Jan. 20 at the University of Akron.

Hudson resident Calvin Kampman, 10, had two first-place finishes in the 200-yard individual medley (3 minutes, 12.15 seconds) and 100 butterfly (1:33.11), while his sister, Corinne Kampman, 12, improved 11.07 seconds in the 100 breaststroke (1:35.33) to finish ninth. Maggie Haas, 13, of Hudson, improved almost three seconds in the 100 backstroke to finish first with a time of 1:05.3. She also dropped 8.77 seconds in the 500 freestyle to finish second (6:04.41). Hudson resident Brittan Ham, 13, swam a personal-best time of 2:49.98 in the 200 breaststroke to capture first.

Jordan Ito, 8, of Hudson, dropped almost six seconds in the 25 backstroke (23.2). Hudson resident Carrie Caniglia also won.
