Bowlers lose to Mentor

The Hudson boys and girls bowling teams lost to Mentor Jan. 9 at Freeway Lanes of Mentor.

The boys dropped a 2,324-1,987 decision and the girls lost a 2,251-1,601 decision.

The boys (3-8) were led by Philip Rust (166-182), Taylor Turrin (187-140) and CJ Colesi (160-135).

The girls (1-7) were led by Angela Piazza (156-140), Elaina Arsham (89-143) and Autumn Stanonik (117-110).

The Hudson boys junior varsity team lost a 2,036-1,666 decision. The top three bowlers for the Explorers were Bryce Meyer (138-147), Nick Johnson (171-113) and Derek Moran (145-133).

All three teams were scheduled to host Brunswick Jan. 11 at Sto-Kent Family Entertainment. Results were not available at press time.

They are set to entertain Mayfield Jan. 17 at 4:15 p.m.

WRA boys fall

The Western Reserve Academy boys basketball team dropped to 3-4 after losing a 57-51 decision to St. Thomas Aquinas Jan. 8 in Louisville.

Sophomore Peter Barba led the Pioneers with 14 points and seniors John Saucier and Erick Bryant each had 12 points for Reserve.

WRA was scheduled top compete in the Midwest Prep Classic Jan. 11 and 12. at La Lumiere High School (Ind.) Results were not available at press time. The Pioneers are set to entertain Garfield Heights Trinity Jan. 15 at 7:30 p.m.

Hoops team wins

The Hudson junior varsity boys basketball team improved to 10-0 with a 40-34 victory over Wadsworth Jan. 8 on the road.

Ian Laver led the Explorers with eight points.
