Western Reserve Academy boys swimming and diving team beats Hoban

The Western Reserve Academy boys swimming and diving team picked up its first win of the season Dec. 5.

The host Pioneers earned a convincing 113-67 victory over Akron Archbishop Hoban. The Reserve girls lost a 97-86 decision.

The following WRA swimmers and divers placed in the top three and the following Reserve relay teams won:

Boys

• 200-yard medley relay: Kevin Ly, Jonathan Depew, John Ainikkal and Eric Lugg, first, 1 minute, 49.84 seconds

• 200 freestyle: Lugg, second, 2:08.81

• 200 individual medley: Depew, first, 2:13.54

• 50 freestyle: Ainikkal, first, 23.98; Zein Alali, second, 26.04; and Shyam Patanaik, third, 26.08

• Diving: Adam Sneath, first, 160.28 points; and Drew Perdue, second, 95.25

• 100 butterfly: Ainikkal, second, 1:05.67; and Alali, third, 1:15.6

• 100 freestyle: Ly, first, 55.28; and Patnaik, third, 1:00.18

• 500 freestyle: Max Forsythe, second, 6:44.75

• 200 freestyle relay: Lugg, Ly, Depew and Ainikkal, first, 1:37.4

• 100 backstroke: Ly, second, 1:04.84; and Lugg, third, 1:06.71

• 100 breaststroke: Depew, first, 1:09.47; and Tomson Tai, third, 1:22.63

• 400 freestyle relay: Sam Kuri, Kurt Haller, Alali and Patnaik, first, 4:06.13

Girls

• 200 medley relay: Elisabeth Andersson, Sibel Sarac, Kathryn Babbin and Caroline Babbin, first, 2:05.86

• 200 freestyle: Kathryn Babbin, first, 1:59.97; and Megan Barsella, third, 2:31.04

• 200 IM: Valerie Heyd, third, 3:00.14

• 50 freestyle: Sarac, third, 28.2

• Diving: Anne Carter, first, 167.1; Christina Crowder, second, 153.53; and Dori Fenyvesi, third, 150.22

• 100 butterfly: Elisabeth Andersson, first, 1:12.62; and Molly Clark, third, 1:28.69

• 100 freestyle: Caroline Babbin, second, 1:06.49

• 500 freestyle: Kathryn Babbin, first, 5:13.01

• 100 backstroke: Andersson, second, 1:09.33

• 100 breaststroke: Sarac, first, 1:20.01

Both teams are scheduled to entertain Stow-Munroe Falls Dec. 11 at 4:30 p.m.
