Three national events
coming to area
The National Collegiate Athletic Association awarded the Greater Cleveland Sports Commission and several partner organizations the hosting rights to three national championships.
Cleveland is set to host the 2014 National Collegiate Women’s Bowling Championship, the 2014 Division II Men’s and Women’s Swimming and Diving National Championships and the 2014 Division II Wrestling National Championships.
The 2014 Division II Wrestling National Championships is scheduled to take place March 12 to 14 at Cleveland Public Hall.
Edinboro University (Pa.) and the Sports Commission is set to host the 2014 Division II Men’s and Women’s Swimming and Diving National Championships at SPIRE Institute March 12 to 15 in nearby Geneva.
The Sports Commission and the Mid-American Conference is scheduled to bring the National Collegiate Women’s Bowling Championship back to Freeway Lanes in Wickliffe in April of 2014.
The championship event is expected to feature the top eight collegiate teams in the country.
The two organizations partnered to host the event at the same venue in April 2012.
The Greater Cleveland Sports Commission also is a finalist to host three additional NCAA events.
The winning bids for those events are expected to be announced by the end of November.

Globetrotters coming
to Cleveland
The Harlem Globetrotters are scheduled to visit Quicken Loans Arena in Cleveland Dec. 27 at 7 p.m.
Fans will decide the rules for the game that could affect the final outcome.
This could be anything from playing with two basketballs at once, to getting double the points for each basket made.

Baseball offered
ACE is scheduled to offer its high school and youth winter camp series in January.
The baseball camps are position-specific camps. Players of all skill levels are welcome. There will be camps for catching, infield play, pitching, hitting and outfield play.
