Simpson fares well for Mount Union swim team
The University of Mount Union (Alliance) men’s swimming and diving team placed third at the Corbiere-Merion Invitational, which concluded Nov. 18 at Ohio Wesleyan University in Delaware.
The Purple Raiders finished with 606 points, which was 91 points behind second-place Ohio Wesleyan (697) and 274 points behind first place Lake Erie College of Painesville (880).
Hudson native Joe Simpson, a sophomore, placed fifth in the 200-yard butterfly with a time of 2 minutes, 8.61 seconds for Mount Union.
Mount Union earned a 111-92 victory over Saint Vincent College Nov. 16 in Latrobe, Pa.
Simpson was a member of Mount Union’s third-place 200 freestyle relay team that posted a time of 1:32.6.
Simpson also placed second (2:06.78) in the 200 butterfly.

Love scores two goals in win over Heidelberg
The University of Mount Union women’s soccer team earned a 6-0 win over Ohio Athletic Conference rival Heidelberg University Oct. 27 in Tiffin.
Hudson native Emily Love had two goals for Mount Union.
