AKRON, OH – A grant of $20,000 has been made to Akron SCORE by GAR Foundation. The grant will help SCORE continue its services to start-up and existing businesses in Medina, Portage, Summit and Wayne counties.
“We appreciate the support of GAR over the past several years,” said Dan O’Connell, Akron SCORE Chair. “The grants have helped us do the important work of mentoring businesses on a one-on-one basis and conducting a wide variety of workshops on business practices.”
Akron SCORE has conducted workshops and mentored business owners free for 52 years.
More than 10,000 client service hours were donated by SCORE mentors in 2016, valued at more than $1.5 million if supplied by a private consulting firm.
In addition, 2,175 client services were supplied and 104 workshops conducted, all at no cost to clients. More than 32,000 hours of mentoring have been supplied free of charge by SCORE mentors during the past five decades. The monetary value of the counseling would have been more than $33 million if supplied by a consulting firm.
