On Aug. 11, the City of Hudson’s Planning Commission will be holding a public hearing regarding Case No. 2014-14, request to rezone Parcel #3009586, “District 6 - Western Hudson Gateway” To “District 3: Outer Village Residential Neighborhood Zone.”
The request is to rezone 90.63 acres allowing Prestige Homes to enlarge the Reserve at River Oaks development thus allowing them to build homes directly on a natural category 3 wetland that serves as our flood control basin, and a wildlife corridor.
District 6 is classified environmentally sensitive land because of the wetlands that feed downstream waters, trap flood waters, recharge groundwater supplies, and remove pollution thus provides Hudson with a healthy ecosystem. The manner in which Hudson develops this high quality wetland will have direct and indirect consequences on water resources, ﬂooding, erosion and water quality throughout the stream system.
I would encourage the citizens of Hudson to attend the hearing and express their concerns.
The meeting is at Town Hall, 27 E. Main St., Hudson at 7:30 p.m.

thank you hudson hub for this editorial.. I do agreee with the need for status quo on that land and don't want to see flooding like the last decade, but, the announcement really should be informational, not so heavy on the concerns, especially with no author attribution! :)
