In response to letters about the railroad bridge graffiti, I think some people are totally missing the point. This was a defacing of private property and a far cry from just mischief. I would bet that if this graffiti was painted on their garage door they would want those responsible held accountable.
If you like a declaration of triumph, fine. Hang a banner that can be taken down and reused every year. The permissive everything attitude of some never ceases to amaze me.
If you have to pay for the paint and labor I bet you wouldn't be smiling. People work hard enough as it is without having to repair irresponsible acts such as this.
Simple and harmless? How about right and wrong and this was just wrong period. It is said that "well begun is half done." If you really think that this is a good beginning, then you're wrong, too.
