Each week, Destination Hudson will present a photograph of something in Hudson; some will be easy, but with some we will try to stump you. We will also include an interesting fact about our town. Our hope is that you will enjoy the facts about your hometown, and if you don't know where the photograph was taken, you'll go find out! The answers will be printed in the Hudson Hub-Times, and posted on Destination Hudson's Facebook page and at the Visitor Center.
Last week's poster of John Lennon is hanging in the window of Dave's Cosmic Subs at 186 N. Main Street. Originally one story, the building was built by Owen Brown (John Brown's father) in 1834. A second floor was added sometime around 1870, and was a private residence well into the 1900s. There have been many residences on the second floors of the Main Street buildings, and at least three remain today. In 1979 there was a fire that damaged but didn't destroy both 186 and 190 North Main. There is You win a BOGO coupon for Hudson's if you are the FIRST to tell me any business that was on the main floor in the years between the fire and when Dave's Subs moved in 12 years ago.
