Has it been lost in the mail? Has it been purloined? Is it so secret it's held under lock and key?
Where's the plan?
After spending thousands of dollars for a Colorado Ad Agency to give us a marketing plan to help us attract new business, where's the new business? Does a new barber shop or new photography shop, hair salon or the like count?
Now some things have happened. We have a "Destination Hudson" kiosk, now given a more permanent residence. I hear the mugs and T-shirts, "I visited Hudson Once" are big sellers. You can get maps and pamphlets extolling our virtues there. And I believe our economic development officer and mayor may make another trip to our sister city in Germany to drum up business. There may be a German brewery in our future.
But our plan for differentiation from other communities seems to be to spend more, more quickly, with possibly more debt. Future citizens, "beware of the burden."
I guess we can thank our city father's for more festivals, more outdoor concerts, more large stadia as our primary traffic draws. Will a Segway fleet for tours really help? More daytime population is good; more permanent residents are best!
