I am happy that President
Obama addressed climate change in his second inaugural address. This is an issue that has been pushed aside, even though it will affect all of us in some way.
One issue he could start addressing is carbon pollution. I believe the greatest cause of climate change is carbon pollution from power plants. One step to reduce carbon pollution from power plants is to increase the industrial carbon pollution standard for current and future power plants. If a higher standard is set, more jobs will be made through clean technology innovation, lives around coal plants will drastically improve, and communities around Ohio will have to worry less about losing their lives to industrial motives.
I know there will be fierce opposition to truly beneficial steps like increasing the power plant pollution standard, but I hope the president makes it clear he will lead this fight in his State of the Union.
