Letter: Thanks Council members for putting charter amendment on ballot

Published:

As a former League of Women Voters of Hudson president and concerned citizen of Hudson, I would like to thank the city of Hudson Council members for unanimously voting to place a charter change amendment, Issue 19, on the November ballot. Issue 19 addresses the need to change the filing deadline for City Council and mayor nomination petitions with the Summit County Board of Election from 75 days to 90 days before the day of the election. Today, Hudson city elected officials are the only entity in Summit County with a 75-day deadline. All of the other school boards, cities, villages and townships have a 90-day deadline. Voting "yes" will eliminate the additional administrative responsibilities in preparing the Hudson ballot for early voting. I ask for your "yes" vote on Issue 19. Belinda Wing, Hudson
