Mary Owen Rosenthal, 88, fine artist and printmaker, passed away peacefully at home in Chicago, April 18, 2017. A native of Huntington WV, she moved to Chicago as a young girl. Her father, a journalist, became a copywriter at the Chicago Tribune and later Managing Editor. Her family then moved to Evanston where she graduated from high school. Formerly of Oberlin and Hudson, OH, she earned her BA from Oberlin College and her MFA from Western Michigan Univ.
Beloved wife of 50+ years to the late Vincent Arthur Rosenthal, loving mother of Susan Lynne Rosenthal of Phoenix, AZ, Garnett Mary Kilberg (Fred) Cohen of Chicago, and Thomas F. Rosenthal of Virginia City, MT; grandmother of James K. Kilberg of Chicago, IL, Wendy (Will Barley) Bartlo of Champaign, IL, and Brett (Amanda Smith) Bartlo of Denver, CO; great-grandmother of Rory Vincent Elias Kilberg and Vivian Mary Barley; sister of Lynne (Pete) Penczer of CT.
Daughter of the late Stewart Douglas Owen and Ida Garnett Osborn Owen.
Memorial service Saturday, May 13, 11:30 am, Graceland Cemetery Chapel, 4001 N. Clark St, Chicago.
