James Edward McClellan, 90, of Hudson, Ohio, formerly of Sarasota, Florida, died Aug. 12, 2014.
He was preceded in death by his wife, Mary (nee Sturgis) McClellan and parents, Francis (nee Kelly) and James S. McClellan.
He is survived by daughter, Elizabeth (Douglas) McClellan Price; and grandchildren, Hannah and Kiefer Price.
A native of Chicago, Mr. McClellan graduated from Princeton University in 1946. He served as an Ensign in the US Navy during World War II.
After college Mr. McClellan returned to Chicago where he worked for Proctor and Gamble, the Chicago Board of Trade and Kraft Foods' newly created Institutional Foods Division. In 1957 he moved to New York to follow his love of publishing, working as editor of Progressive Grocer Magazine. In 1971 Mr. McClellan took over the Consumer Products businesses of American Can Company. He retired in 1980.
Upon moving to Florida he volunteered for SCORE and the Literacy Council.
In lieu of flowers, the family suggests memorial contributions be made to the Laurel Lake Employee Education Fund, 200 Laurel Lake Drive, Hudson, OH 44236 or to a charity of choice.
A memorial service will be Aug. 30 at 10 a.m. at Christ Church Episcopal, 21 Aurora St. in Hudson.
