Anne Guthrie (Black) Barr, 94, of Hudson, Ohio, died June 2, 2014, at the Crown Center at Laurel Lake.
Mrs. Barr was born in Glasgow, Scotland on April 14, 1920, to the late Annie Guthrie and George Black. She lived in New Jersey for much of her life and worked as a bookkeeper for Public Service Electric and Gas. In her retirement, Mrs. Barr traveled frequently to the United Kingdom to visit family and friends. She most recently lived in Hendersonville and Flat Rock, North Carolina and Hudson.
Mrs. Barr is survived by her daughter, Freida Barr Kroll (Robert Kroll, deceased) of Isanti, Minnesota, son and daughter-in-law, George and Janet Barr of Hudson, and granddaughters, Kristen Kroll Moen (Brian) of Omaha, Nebraska, Karolyn Kroll (Tim Baxter) of Shell Lake, Wisconsin, and Jillian Barr Krein (Matthew) of Southern Pines, North Carolina. She also will be missed by her dear friend Susan Edwards of Flat Rock, North Carolina.
In addition to her parents, Mrs. Barr was preceded in death by her husband, Alexander MacLean Barr and brother, Harry Black.
In lieu of flowers, the family requests that memorials be made to the Laurel Lake Foundation, 200 Laurel Lake Drive, Hudson, OH 44236, or Crossroads Hospice, 3743 Boettler Oaks Drive Suite E, Green, OH 44685. Private family services will be held at a later date. There are no visitation hours.
