Betty Jean Anderson, 84, wife and mother, died peacefully with her family at her side April 14, 2014, in Rochester Hills, Mich.
She was born Dec. 7, 1929, to Wallace H. Schoen and Lydia (Schroeder) Schoen, in Grand Rapids, Mich.
Mrs. Anderson is survived by her husband of 62 years, Quentin L. Anderson; son David; daughter Patricia Wimmer (David); brother, Raymond Schoen; and her standard poodle, Bailey. She was preceded in death by her brother, Ronald Schoen.
A 1948 graduate of MacKenzie High School in Detroit, she attended Michigan State University, where she met her husband. They were married July 21, 1951. She worked as an executive secretary for General Motors for a number of years.
In addition to many years in the Detroit area, she and her family lived in Wilbraham, Mass.; Battle Creek, Mich.; and Chagrin Falls and Hudson.
Mrs. Anderson loved traveling with her family, especially to the mountains and seashores of the Northeast. There was a private family funeral service April 17, at Potere-Modetz Funeral Home in Rochester, Mich. There will be a memorial event later this spring.
