Garth E. McAdoo, 81, recently of Laurel Lake Retirement Community, died Jan. 11, 2014.

A graduate of Hiram College, he is survived by his wife of 59 years, Barbara; daughters Debbie (Steve) Peepers, Kathy (Jeff) Messics and Anne (Mike) Santora; grandchildren Rick (Ashley) and Bruce Peepers, Michael and Kathryn Santora, Bill, Charlie and Barbara Messics; great granddaughter Mariah Bernards.

Mr. McAdoo was a native of Bedford and owner of McAdoo Realty Service. He served as chairman of the Professional Standards Committee for Cleveland Area Board of Realtors and was named Realtor of the year in 1995. He was an eight-year member and former president of Bedford School Board and named to the Bedford High School Hall of Fame in 2004 and a 55 year member and past president of Bedford Rotary Club. He also was a past president of First Baptist Church Board of Trustees and was a former Community Council co-chair. He also volunteered with the American Red Cross and Meals on Wheels.

The family will receive guests Jan. 18 from 10 a.m. to noon and 2 to 4 p.m. at Johnson-Romito Funeral Home, 521 Broadway Ave., Bedford. A memorial service will be Jan. 19 at 1:30 p.m. in the Community Room at Laurel Lake Retirement Community, 200 Laurel Lake Drive. Memorials may be made to the Amyloidosis Foundation or Hiram College.
