Philip J. Liambeis of Aurora died Nov. 24, 2013. He was 65. He was a firefighter and EMT for several communities including Hudson, Richmond Heights, Copley and Fairlawn.
Mr. Liambeis was born in Euclid and graduated from Brush High School and Kent State University where he earned a master's degree in facilities management. He was a film editor for WKYC in Cleveland, and Director of Parks and Recreation for the City of Fairlawn. He served on Hudson City Council in 2002. He was most recently a security officer for Sterling Jewelers, Progressive Insurance, and Morgan Bank. He also taught Concealed Carry Weapon Classes. He was an athlete and he played basketball, soccer and golf. He coached volleyball while at Kent State University. He was an enthusiastic Disney pin collector and traveled to Disney World annually.
He leaves his beloved wife, Valerie (nee Butler) who he married in 1969. He was the dear father of Nicole Liambeis and Stephanie (David) Schneck; cherished son of the late Dr. John and Doris Liambeis.
