David Lee Duchene, a 23-year resident of Hudson, died Jan. 9, 2013, at home following a six-month battle with pancreatic cancer.
He was born Jan. 22, 1948, and would have turned 65 Jan. 22.
Mr. Duchene grew up in Parma and is a graduate of Parma High School and attended Ohio State University.
Throughout his life he was a jack of all trades, from mechanical draftsman at Republic Steel, surveyor for Western Reserve Engineering and Surveying, salesman, maintenance manager at Holy Family in Stow, maintenance manager at Double Play, and owner of his own handyman business.
He loved basset hounds, old cars and houses, Gershwin and American objects that weathered the test of time.
He is survived by his longtime partner, Stephanie Vaughan; brother, Louis Duchene; sister-in-law, Ellie Duchene of Santee, Calif.; and two daughters, Lisa Duchene of Belleville, Pa., and Danielle Duchene of Sarasota, Fla.
A celebration of his life will take place in the summer for his family and friends. Memorial donations may be made to a charity of one's choice.
I was not privilaged to meet David in person but I know his daughter Danielle. She has always spoken highly of her father and I know if he was even half the man his little girl thought of him then he will be truly missed. I wished I had a chance to meet him. I pray for the family and freinds that he has left behind. He will truly be missed. Luv Melanie Brunemann
