Theodore J.  Dettling

Theodore Joseph Dettling, 84, passed away Dec.28, 2012.  

He is survived by daughters Barbara (Peter) Stamatis, Diane (Sam) Ross, Susan (David) Brown, Mary Dettling; sons Brian and Ted; grandchildren Michelle, Allison, Brian, Michelle (Gesualdo), Billy, Maddie, Bridget, Camille, Colton, Austin; great-grandchildren Joey and Johnathan; sister Margie (Emory) Lesho, brothers Robert and Rev. William Dettling. Theodore is preceded in death by loving wife Marilyn Balaun Dettling; parents Theodore and Leanore;  and sister Leanore (Andy) Haas.

Theodore graduated from St. Vincent High School, graduated from the University of Akron with a BS in chemistry and a law degree. He served as a first lieutenant in the U.S. Army. He worked as chemist for B.F. Goodrich and General Tire. Ted practiced patent law at Diamond Shamrock Corportion. Theodore and Marilyn cofounded Elaston Company. He spent many years at Lake Mohawk and enjoyed boating and water skiing. 

Mass of Christian burial was Jan. 3 at St. Sebastian Catholic Church in Akron. Entombment in Holy Cross Cemetery was to follow. Visitation was Jan. 2 at the Hummel Funeral Home in Akron. Donations may be made to the Sebastian new organ fund, 476 Mull Ave., Akron 44320 in Ted's memory.
