University Park Art Fair Graces Park for 5th Year

AKRON, OH (August 5, 2010) " Regional artists will showcase their fine arts and crafts at the University Park Art Fair at Grace Park on Saturday, August 14, 2010.

Celebrating its fifth year, the art fair will be from 10 a.m. to 6 p.m. at Grace Park at Perkins and Prospect Streets. University Park is a resurgent neighborhood located in the central part of Akron and anchored by The University of Akron, Summa Health System's Akron City Hospital, The City of Akron, Akron Public Schools and the downtown business district.

Featured this year will be:
More than 100 regional artists and their work for purchase;
Artwork including ceramics, glass, wearable art, furniture, drawings and graphics, fiber, jewelry, leather, metal, mixed media, painting, photography, sculpture, watercolor, wood art and more;
Family art workshops with renowned local artists Mark Soppeland and Leandra Drumm;
Make & Take project hosted by Akron Art Museum and other children's activities;
A family-friendly atmosphere;
Live music and other entertainment spotlighting several of the area's best bands and performers including: Chardon Polka Band, Ashley Brooke Toussant, Lo-WATT Radio, and the Speedbumps; The Great Brad, Paper Folding Circus, and Bill Roddy's Juggle Art Painting; and
Bike Valet service provided by University of Akron Chapter of Engineers Without Borders.

A project aimed to help revive the University Park area, the mission of the art fair is to showcase the metropolitan neighborhood, thriving businesses, and other offerings University Park provides its visitors.

Admission to the University Park Art Fair at Grace Park is free. Free on-street parking is available in the surrounding neighborhoods, and parking lots are open for use at adjacent businesses.
